Shelly Martinez Jewel Watch

In January, does not remain confined

I'm still recovering from the excesses of Christmas, which is already cool evenings and other plans are linked, and many more are looming on the horizon.

must say that 2011 brings a big change in my life: weekend, weekend ... Magic words that I'm already starting to rediscover the meaning this year. Yep, finished the job on Saturday, finished Sunday work, no more celebrations cut short Saturday night not to be too nase next day at work. Welcome to the time left with Mr. Husband, at least when it will not be on the loose in the world, welcome to aqua fitness Saturday morning brunch with girlfriends, to snowshoeing ... Simple pleasures that I have not had the joy of living this past year, although I still managed to maintain an active lifestyle. But I still felt out of step, at rest before or after people, but never at the same time. It's all over now, at least for one year, and I'll enjoy it.

And not to waste time, I celebrated my first great weekend with a pub crawl on Friday night. The air of nothing, there's a lot of really nice pubs in Vancouver ... The tour began with a short passage in Alibi Room, where there was no room, unfortunately. Damage. I love this bar but I'm not the only one, obviously. We therefore fell back on Chill Winston, still in Gastown, across from the statue of Gassy Jack. Ambience not bad at all, tattooed waitress hearts and dizzying cleavage scary Poupoune many, but not not as vulgar as those of Granville St. No need to go far then, the Six Acres had no place Nor, unfortunately, but his neighbor Irish Heather yes. I'm not often at Irish Heather, yet each time, I love it. Besides, it makes me think that I must finally decided to go test their concept "Long Table Series" , one of those nights. I'll stop here my list of bars or I could pass for a first drunk. I will just conclude by noting that the subject of poutine at Ze Beautiful Potato (well, Belle Patate ) on Davie at 3am is one of the most divine dishes that I have ever tasted . Without sarcasm. After more than 11 years in Canadian territory, I seems it was time.

The result is predictable: 2 aspirins that are not miracles and too few hours of sleep later, the same joyous team visits (walk from Kitsilano then, I note in passing ) in Templeton on Granville St for a well deserved brunch. My god, it missed me so much ...

Today program radically different. Mr C. to go back on a plane tonight, we got up early to enjoy the day in love and go to our first snowshoeing in winter. Equipment loaned by generous Friends, head for the provincial trail Cypress Mountain, which leads to the summit of Hollyburn Peak. Total happiness on this Sunday full of sunshine, blue skies and blinding snow (I forgot my sunglasses).

It goes hard sometimes, but this time I decided, I did not stop en route, I hit the summit. The last part, the steeper, I just "skippered" last is not obvious when the snow is icy, but it's absolutely worth the climb, the view is extraordinary. And the descent is very fast if it was thought to take a plastic bag.

Weekend # 1 well completed, the next will be even more epic!
